This Catana 42 “Double Dutch” from 2010 (owners edition) is a very fully equipped performance-cruising catamaran, in which a lot has been invested in technology, navigation, rigging, comfort and energy supply in recent years. With her 12.58 meters length and 6.90 meters width, she offers plenty of living space, while the shallow draft of only 0.80 meters allows for a huge sailing area. Propulsion is provided by two Yanmar 3JH40 engines of 40 hp each.

What distinguishes this Catana above all is the amount of recent innovations and upgrades. In 2023, substantial investments were made in navigation and electronics. For example, an Easy TRX3 AIS transponder, Maretron GPS, new anemometer, navigation computer with Windows 11 Pro and new displays have been installed. In 2025, the autopilot will be further updated with a B&G Precision Compass, NAC3 autopilot computer, rudder feedback and Triton 2 autopilot controller, among other things.

The standing rigging was also renewed in 2023. The sail wardrobe is also interesting: the B1 Sails mainsail of 70 m² dates from 2023, the jib with FACNOR roller is from 2023 and its roller was replaced in 2025. In addition, the ship has an 80 m² gennaker with FACNOR roller from 2020.

Important matters have also been tackled on deck. The electric Lofrans windlass is from 2024, as well as a Kobra 20 kg spare anchor with 50 meters of chain. Parts of the original teak deck were replaced by Flexiteak in 2022. For the dinghy there is a Hibo RIB of 3 meters with Tohatsu 9.8 hp outboard engine from 2023.

For longer trips and independent stays on board, the Double Dutch is extensively equipped. It has a 3.7 kW Paguro 3000 generator, a 50-litre per hour Aquabase watermaker and no less than eight solar panels, four of which are 120W panels on the rear panel and four Phaesun 120W panels on the cabin roof, the latter dating from 2024. The three starter batteries were renewed in 2023.

The comfort on board has also been significantly modernized in recent years. In 2023, an Autotherm heater, Vitrifrigo refrigerator, 3-burner Navy Load stove, Fusion RA670 radio and new Fusion speakers were installed. A Huawei 4G/LTE router is available for internet on board. The hot water boiler was even renewed in 2026 and can be heated via the engine as well as via 220V.

Most important innovations at a glance: standing rigging, mainsail, jib, navigation electronics, heating, refrigerator, stove, Fusion audio system, dinghy engine and starter batteries are from 2023. In 2024, the electric windlass, additional solar panels and the Kobra spare anchor followed, among other things. In 2025, the autopilot was extensively renewed and the roller of the jib was replaced. In addition, a new 40-litre Isotherm hot water cylinder will be installed in 2026.

The Catana 42 Double Dutch is therefore not your average catamaran of this age. The combination of her shallow draft, two 40 hp Yanmar engines from 2023, extensive sailing wardrobe and especially the large amount of recent investments makes her particularly interesting for someone looking for a serious catamaran for longer trips and comfortable stay on board.

A ship that has clearly not only been maintained in recent years, but has also been modernized and prepared for new adventures.
